New construction in Toronto is set to be completed in the next few months and is being done by Lowe’s, which is using a high-rise building as its base to create office space for more than 100 workers.
The Toronto-based company said it has completed more than 1,100 square metres of work for its new York Centre location, which will house some 1,600 people.
The project, which was launched in March, will see Lowe’s move into a two-storey building in the city’s downtown core, at the corner of Bay and Dundas streets.
The company said in a statement that the building, which has a total floor area of 1,818 square metres, will feature an expanded parking deck and a more spacious central area that will feature two elevators.
The building will include an expanded office space, which could include about 100 people, as well as retail space, a large outdoor terrace, an expanded meeting room and a public spaces, the company said.
It will also include a dedicated area for community events and activities.
Lowe’s has said the building will feature new energy efficiency and climate-smart technology, including solar panels and a large LED light fixture.
The company is also building a greenhouse to produce organic produce.
